~ A New Year Full of Possibilities ~

It's hard to believe that I haven't posted in over two months!!! Oh, well, it is a new year, and I love the feeling of new possibilities that come with each new year. Perhaps I can become more consistent with my blog postings...

The last couple of weeks have been spent thinking about the upcoming year and planning new projects. I am hoping to slow down a bit while I also step out of my comfort zone with quilting. I hope to try new colors, new patterns, learn new techniques. It should be quite interesting.

Trying new colors...I just received an order of mostly Kaffe Fassett fabric...once again being influenced by my sister, and her love of his fabrics.

Trying new patterns...I am still trying to figure out what to do with my obsession  this beautiful fabric:

Hopefully I can find a pattern for a wall hanging...

Trying new techniques...as in templates, as in The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt, as in "What on earth am I thinking"!!!!! I am so excited about this project (which I'm sure will take me years to complete)! After hearing my mantra of "I LOVE BATIKS" over and over again, my sister suggested using batiks for the sampler quilt. Here is what I have so far...

...some scraps, some gifted, some recently purchased...

Thanks, as always, for visiting...

Happy quilting, my friends!!

  1. Michelle, it is so good to have you back in blogland!!!! Look at you with all those Kaffe fabrics. You know where to send your scraps ;-) I have a few more batiks you can add to your collections....as soon as I make it to the post office. Good luck deciding on a project for your Gruber's fabric. I look forward to seeing what you come up with in 2012....not to mention some pictures of all your 2011 projects! ;-) Happy Saturday!

  4. I am kind of glad you haven't posted for so long. I have had trouble keeping up with everything and am trying to catch up on people's blogs. This makes my life easier! And we know it's all about me, right? LOL. Glad to see you back! I love your batiks! That will be really fun. Batiks are also so nice to work with. Higher thread count and a little more body. I find my piecing accuracy is better with batiks. I bet you will love working with them!

  5. I love batiks, too! I just spent $64 at the local quilt shop (at their annual 25% off sale) --- and all my purchases were batik. I'll be checking back to see how your projects are going. Happy sewing!
